How Can I become a member?
Key Club is open to ALL GBS students who have a heart to serve others in need.
Becoming a member is simple! Just go to the SAO and pick up a registration form.
Turn that in with your $25 due and you are set for the year (no more money after that)!
Once we receive the shirts, we will begin handing them out in the hallway outside the cafeteria.

DO I HAVE TO ATTEND EVERY EVENT?
No! That is humanly impossible! We offer a lot of events because we have so many members.
We encourage you to sign up for events that you feel passionate/interested in.

Do you have point/hour minimums for key club?
You may have noticed that we never emphasize points/hours. That is because we feel the heart of Key Club is to serve because of desire to help others and not because of a mandated requirement. With that said, we ask that members serve 14 hours per semester or 28 hours a year. That sounds like a lot, but typically one event will be worth 2-3 hours. So this usually means 1-3 events a month. If you can't get to 14 in one semester, you are more than welcome to make up for lost hours in spring. If you feel you are too far behind, just notify a leader. We much prefer you still want to serve and help others than stop because of a requirement. If you have the heart to help, we will make it work!
We keep hours record because it helps us keep track of how involved we are as a club.
Also, in the event that members need evidence of their service hours.
IF I AM IN SPORTS OR OTHER ACTIVITIES CAN I STILL BE IN KEY CLUB?
Absolutely! Key Club offers volunteer opportunities before school, during school, after school and weekends throughout the year. So if you are busy with sports or activities in the fall, come join us for activities when your schedule clears up! You are more than welcome to participate as much as you desire.

WHY DOESN'T KEY CLUB HAVE PRESIDENTS/RANKING LEADERSHIP?
Our philosophy is simple. We want ALL of our members to eventually be leaders and organizers of events and programs. Eliminating hierarchy and power structures unifies us all on the same level, all working towards the common goal to put service over ourselves. Simply put, it is better to have 500 candles shining together than to have one spotlight. Our hope is that through the experiences of Key Club, our members will continue to be advocates of compassion and service well beyond their years at Glenbrook South.
Why are we called "KEY CLUB"?
We are affiliated with a national organization, Kiwanis International, whose high school branch is "Key Club".
